On International White Cane Day, on Thursday, October 15, Dans le Noir? Luxembourg invite you to a unique immersive evening. An aperitif in the light, dinner in the dark with our blind and visually impaired guide-waiters, followed by an interactive quiz and a discussion with the guides to gain a better understanding of their daily lives: an experience that raises awareness while bringing people together.
An evening to change your perspective
Every year, International White Cane Day highlights the independence and autonomy of blind and visually impaired people, while inviting everyone to gain a better understanding of their daily lives.
On this occasion, Dans le Noir ? Luxembourg invites you to an exceptional evening where awareness is experienced above all through firsthand experience.
For a few hours, the roles are reversed. Sight gives way to the other senses, familiar reference points disappear, and our blind and visually impaired guide-waiters become your trusted points of reference.
Much more than just a dinner, this evening is an invitation to look at visual impairment from a different perspective.
A sensory immersion to gain a better understanding
The evening will begin at 7:00 p.m. with an aperitif in the light.
This first part of the evening will give participants the opportunity to discover the concept, meet the other guests and prepare for an experience unlike any other.
At 7:30 p.m., guests will be invited to join their table in the dark room with the help of their guide.
Until 9:30 p.m., guests will enjoy a meal served entirely in the dark by our guide-waiters.
In the dark, everyone instantly loses their visual reference points.
Hearing naturally sharpens. Touch becomes a source of greater trust. Smells take on a new dimension. Flavors become more intense.
Very quickly, everyone realizes just how much sight influences the way we eat, communicate and even move around.
This immersive experience allows guests to experience, for the duration of a meal, something that encourages empathy while remaining friendly, enjoyable and accessible to everyone (aged 6).

Our guide-waiters welcome you, reassure you, accompany you and serve you with remarkable professionalism and unparalleled expertise.
For many participants, this reversal of roles is one of the most memorable moments of the evening.
It helps break down preconceptions and offers a different perspective on the skills, independence and expertise of people who live with a disability every day.
Without any moralising or lecturing, perceptions naturally begin to change.
An interactive quiz to extend the experience, followed by a special moment with our guide-waiters
When you leave the dark room, guests will be guided to the lit area.... but the experience will not end there.
Participants will then be invited to take part in an interactive quiz about visual impairment, common misconceptions, accessibility and the daily lives of blind and visually impaired people.
It is an opportunity to challenge your assumptions, discover some surprising facts and learn while having fun.
Because understanding also comes through conversation, our guides will be there during the quiz and will be happy to answer all your questions (even those you might think are not particularly relevant!):
“How do they get around in their daily lives? What is a white cane actually used for? What are the main challenges they face in public spaces? What are the most common misconceptions?”
These open and spontaneous conversations, with no taboo subjects, provide an opportunity to better understand the reality of visual impairment, while also discovering the many adaptive skills developed every day by people who are far too often marginalised.
Finally discover what you have tasted
One of the great pleasures of a Dans le Noir ? meal is trying to guess the ingredients that make up each dish. But very few people manage to get all the answers right.
At the end of the quiz, participants will finally discover the menu they have just tasted.
The reactions are often surprising. Foods that seemed instantly recognisable turn out to be something completely different.
Conversely, some flavours we thought we knew take on an entirely different dimension when experienced without sight.
This revelation extends the sensory game and provides plenty of opportunities for conversation among the guests.

The Novotel car park is available subject to availability.
If the car park is full, an underground car park is available immediately to the right of the establishment. A free exit ticket can be requested from reception.
The Place de l'Europe car park is also just a few minutes' walk from the restaurant.
